Slowly but surely, I am getting my family tree built up.
John and Sarah moved to BC in 1889, with 3 of their children - GRANT NICOL MURCHIE b. Oct 15, 1883 d.Sep 5, 1959 in Langley Prairie, BC, JOHN RAITT MURCHIEb. Sep 22, 1885 d.Apr 30, 1973 in Vancouver, BC; and CATHERINE ISABELLA MURCHIE b Apr 18, 1888 d Jan 2, 1974 in Vancouver BC and Sarah was pregnant with their 4th child, GERTRUDE ANNIE MURCHIE b. Feb 21, 1890 in Burnaby, BC, d.May 2, 1959 in Vancouver, BC.They had 7 more children, my grandmother, CHARLOTTE MARGARET MURCHIE was the youngest.Out of their 11 children, only 4 of them had children. One son, Archibald Francis Murchie was killed at the age of 33 in Chicago, shot during an attempted drug store hold-up by a character known as The Lone Wolf, perhaps connected to the Al Capone gang.Archie was a talented artist attending the Chicago School of Art, and a Bible college.The 2nd youngest son, Douglas, died at 34 of Tuberculosis.
I'm in contact with most of John and Sarah's descendants, most of whom still live western Canada except for my branch who moved to Ontario when my father was 12.
