I came across the following obituary for Daniel Murchison (1809-1867), son of Kenneth Murchison and Catherine Campbell of Moore County, North Carolina:

Death of Captain Murchison.We are in receipt of a telegram from New Braunfels, Comal County, announcing the demise of Captain Dan. Murchison, at that place, at 10 o'clock A.M. of the 22nd inst.Mr. Murchison was an old soldier of the Republic, and served in the brilliant campaign of 1836, terminating in the achievement of its independence.He was ever the faithful friend of his country, and the fearless outspoken advocate of whatever tended to her honor and the advancement of her national interests.He has served the State of texas in many responsible civil positions, with honor to himself and advantage to his immediate constituents.He was a member of the late Texas Convention for revising of the State Constitution, and also a member of the House in the last Legislature.When the 14th Art. proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States was voted upon in the House, his name was recorded as one of the fearless, sagacious and patriotic five who favored its adoption.
