Bill Jenkins does extensive research on the Catholic Myers family of Orangeburg SC and I do most of the research on the Jewish Myers family of Charleston SC.
He is very firm that they are NOT related and I am very firm they ARE.Without a doubt, both families are connected to the Catholic Roosevelts of Catholic Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley.
The Jewish Myers family was said to be Dutch out of Holland. The Catholic Myers family has a connection to the Hapbsburgs of General Lafayette and seem to be French near the German border.
Then again both these families are connected to the Gratz Brothers out of Philadelphia. The Gratz Brothers were the main supplier to the Lewis and Clark Expedition out of Pittsburgh.
I would look at the records of LaSalle University. It was the LaSalle Land Grant that was sold to Thomas Jefferson.
These are the books I recommend you read.
Four books by CSA Col John Esten Cooke.
The Life of Hunter John Myers
The Life of General Robert E Lee
The Life of Thomas Jefferson
The Life of Alexander Spotswood Dandridge.
Then the book titled Ned Myers by James Fenimore Cooper.
Last is the book The Life of Hunter Tim Murphy by John Brick.
I call them families of the Civil War Trent Affair.
