The Will of John Myers born 8 Aug 1783--Jul 1842
I,John Myers, of the County of Carroll in the State of Ohio do make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner and form, that is to say: FIRST, it is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid.SECOND, I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Rachel Myers, in lieu of her dower, the plantation on which we now reside, situated in the County of Carroll and the State of Ohio, containing one hundered and twenty acres more or less, during and while she remains my widow. And all the life (sic)stock and horses, cattle, sheep, hogs, and all the household furniture, and also all the farming utentials (sic) and all the other items not accounted for and otherwise disposed of, during her widowhood as aforesaid. And at the death of my said wife, Rachel Myers, all the property hereby devised or bequeathed to her as aforesaid. Or so much thereof as may still remain unexpended, to my ten children, their heirs and assigns forever. THIRD: I give and devise to my eldest, Mary Ann VanHorn, one equal part of my estate at the death of my said wife, first after having set apart one thousand dollars for the use of Rachel Minerva Myers, my afflicted daughter. FOURTH: I give and devise to my son Johnathan (sic) W. Myers, one equal part of my estate after the one thousand dollars is set apart as aforesaid. FIFTH: I give and devise to my son John Myers one equal part also of my estate (after the above one thousand set apart..) *This part about the one thousand dollars is repeated after each heir's name so I will just use ....)SIXTH: I give and devise to my son Reason one equal part of my estate... SEVENTH: I give and devise to my daughter Pleasant Forquer..
EIGHTH: I give and devise to my daughter Elizabeth one equal part of my estate.... NINTH: I give and devise to my son Jacob B. Myers one equal part.... TENTH: I give and devise to my daughter Agnes Jane Myers one equal...I give and devise to my daughter Margaret one equal part.... and TWELF (sic): It is my will and testament that my daughter Rachel Minerva Myers shall live with her mother while her mother lives, and at her mothers death give and devise one thousand dollars for her use and benefit, to be left in the hands of my oldest son, Jonathan W. Myers for her use and benefit. It is my will that at the death of my afflictic daughter Rachel Minerva Myers that whatever may remain of the thousand dollars be equally divided between my remaining nine children.
And lastly I hereby constitute and appoint my said wife Rachel Myers and my said son Jonathan w. Myers to be Executors for this my last will and testament, revoking and cancelling all former.
