You might want to Google Issac Mellon Van Horn.One of the problems in researching the Mellon family of Pittsburgh is Mellon is a very common name like Myers and most of the Mellons were common Bankers like Pinkertons were common Bank Detectives.

But I am not giving up.

There are three books about this family.One by John Esten Cooke titled The Life of Hunter John Myers, another by John Brick, the Life of Hunter Tim Murphy and last, a book by Washington Irving the Life of Robert Stuart.

Hunter John Myers, a converted Catholic, was close to Catholic Bishop John Carrol of Baltimore and General Lafayette.His wife was Catherine Eberhard and some records suggest the Eberhards, who were known to make pencils, were related to the Pittsburgh Banking Mellon family who were known pencil pushers.
