The Pittsburgh Mellon and Myers families
Interesting book out titled The Mellon Family, A Fortune in History by Burton Hersh. So the Pittsburgh Mellons are not only are into money but are into Historical Incidents as depected in the book.
The family got it's start when Union General James Scott Negley's sister married Judge and Banker Thomas Mellon. The Myers family lived next door to General Negley in Pittsburgh.
They were land speculators in California but lived in Pittsburgh by an obituary. Records suggest this family came from Germany in 1833.I am not sure that's true as it's in the James Rumsey records that they were a riverboat family that dates back to Meriwether Lewis and his big boat.James Rumsey was a steamboat inventor like Robert Fulton and John Fitch.
Anyway, some records suggest the Mellon family also include the Mitchells of General Billy Mitchell and the Eisenhowers of General Ike Eisenhower.Indeed the Eisenhower family did live in Pittsburgh as General Ike Eisehnower's brother Earl was the President of West Penn Power and owned several radio stations in Pittsburgh by the Link Family book of Train Photographer O Winston Link.General Eisenhower's grandmother was Elizabeth Link of the Link family of America who might have been related to James Rumsey.
I am only giving this report as this might ring some bells with Myers families stretching from Shephardstown WV to Martinsburg WV to Pittsburgh PA to Burbank California. Photographer O Winston Link is buried in Shepherdstown which is the home town of James Rumsey.
