Re: Nailor aka Cloutier
I have no idea where the idea that Nailors took the surname cloutier. It was the otherway around because NAILOR is the "anglized" equivalent of Cloutier. I am a direct descendant of Zacharie Cloutier (PQ 1634). My family used the name Cloutier until they moved into Vermont and New York. Then some of them took the english version as their surname beginning with Joseph Nailor in Vermont in the l830s.
