Thomas Nanney son of John - of early Virginia
Info from Sue King concerning Thomas Nanney son of John Nanney.
The sale of his land......since he was dead by 1780 I think he was killed in Am. Rev.....as there was a Thomas Nanny in one of the groups mentioned in a book....the book said NY...but mentioned they were recruited in Virginia and other southern places....he left no will, but I have his one paper they had on him which lists his adm.....(William Ward)....and other wit. etc. and what he owned.....then James sold his land later...so assume he was the oldest....without a will think that was the rule, oldest inherited...

James Nanny sold this land to William Ward of all people, in 1783 (November).....300 acres more or less....witnesses were all Fletchers..... in 1790 census of NCthe names Thomas Nanny and Rice Nanny were there....in Rutherford co.......also noticed a YANCY there... James went later...as did my Jordan, Shadrach, Nicholas and Uriah.....then headed elsewhere.....it does get confusing.....wonder if William Ward was Thomas's son-in-law?
Sue King:
starting in the 1960's I bought every deed with the Nanny name...and I have the patent for the 846 acres for John, then I also have the deed for where John gives his son, Thomas the three hundred acres.....fully described as to location....then the land James sells for 300 acres, fits the description.....plus I have all the Nanney deeds and wills in Brunswick co......there is no deed to or from anybody to James Nanny....and kinda makes you think since he "sold" it to William Ward and he was Adm. of Thomas' estate that he was only son.....according to the 1830 Indiana census he was listed between 60 and 70 yrs. ...making him born about 1760...maybe too young to be handling Thomas' estate.....but Thomas' father, John was still alive....never ends does it?
