Re: Thomas Neely line from Ire. to PA early 1700s
One thing that bothers me a bit about the presumption that Thomas Neely and Thomas O'Neill were the same person:
Thomas NEELY's eldest son Samuel (my 5th great-grandfather) according to a family Bible notation transcribed by a nephew, was born in Co. Tyrone in 1722, making him approximately eight years old when he and his parents immigrated to Pennsylvania ca. 1730.
However, Thomas O'NEILL's brother Niall, the eldest son of Art O'Neill ("The O'Neill" in 1709) wasn't born until 1711.Thomas, being the second son, would have been born after 1711 and thus would have been too young to have fathered a child born in 1722.
Comments?Am I misinformed?
