I think you would find the information that I received from Robert Bonar of Carnmoney Presbyterian Church to be interesting:
"Carnmoney Presbyterian Church Birth and Marriage records: Surviving records go back to 1708. I have checked the early records and have found no records of baptism of children of the names Neeper or Nepper.I did find the following entry in the marriage records: June 12, 1749 James Nepper and Janet Dickson married.
Other Carnmoney marriage records whcih might be of interest to you are: January 11, 1732, Joseph Neeper and Mary Steall were married. I presume that Neeper and Nepper were different spellings of the same surname. The fact that no Neeper/Neper baptisms appear in the Carnmoney Presbyterian records would indicate that the Neeper/Nepper family did not belong to that Church. However the Dickson and Steall (Steel) families appear to have been members and the custom was for marriages to be in the Church of the bride's family. Some Dickson entries in the Carnmoney records which might be of interest:
February 13, 1721, Jenat, daughter to John Dickson of Carntall was baptised. July, 27, 1718, Agnes daughter to John Dickson of Carntall was baptised. April, 2, 1717, John, son to John Dickson, Jun. was baptised. December, 6 1743, John Dickson and Jane Steall married. February, 24, 1750, James Dickson and Agnes Dickson married.
Notes: Carntall mentioned in the above records is a district about one and a half miles from Carnmoney Presbyterian Church.
The early baptismal and marriage records are very brief giving little information and the ones given above are complete copies of the originals.
