Re: Neldon in NJ, PA, OH, IN 1700-1900
The three sons of John Neldon who were left $1. in his will and who were stated to have left the country and never claimed their bequest were George, Jacob and Christian/Christopher.These same names appear on the 1817 Washington Co., OH tax list. From land and tax records Christopher and George were there by 1803 and Jacob, by 1805.Also in Wash Co., George Nulton m. Ann Corner 18 Mar 1806; Nancy Nulton m. Israel Linscott 27 Dec 1807; K. (Katherine?) Nulton m. Edward Miller 7 Apr 1806; S. Nulton m. Thomas Dennis 30 Dec 1813.
On p. 437 of Bedford Co., PA Deed Book F there is a record dated 30 May 1804 of Christian Nulton and wife Louisa's agreement to a permanent separation. They had been married for about three years. They agreed to live as if single and unmarried.Christian would pay Louisa an annuity of $20./year and not seek a divorce. He was not see or try to contact her or make any claim on her property then or in the future. He ould not be obligated for any of her debts.Henry Smith, was authorized to make the payments to Louisa. This may be the same Christian who later appears in Washington Co.
The George Nulton who was in Wash. Co. appears to have moved on to Morgan Co., OH by 1820.
The appearance together of George, Jacob and Christian in Washington Co. does not necessarily mean that they are the sons of John and Eve Neldon who died in Coshocton Co., OH, but is it just coincidence or are they related some other way?If you know anything about these families, please contact me directly.
