Edward Nelson, Blount County AL
In recent months I've noticed that some Nelson researchers are claiming the Blount County, Alabama Edward Nelson as the son of William Nelson of Craven NC who married Winifred Johnson. I recently found the following and believe this will clear up the discrepancy. The Edward Nelson of Blount County, AL was refused Reveloutionary War pension because he was half Cherokee, whereas the Edward Nelson son of William of Craven NC did obtain a pension. Anyway, the below indicates the proper name for Edward of Blount County and I thought researchers might be interested:
Probate Record Book 1830-1834, Blount County, AL
"Edward and Polly Nelson sold to John Morton June 16, 1832 seventy nine acres and 74 hundredths of one acre. Eastern half of SE quarter of section 30, Township 10, range 1 East, in district of Laws."
