I am so excited to hear from you.Yes, my great-grandfather Andrew Joseph NEMEC was born in Brekov on August 7, 1887.
I have a copy of his Social Security Number paperwork that lists his father as Mike NEMEC and mother as Anna VALOVCIK.They lived in Brekov also.
Andrew came to America in 1909 0r 1910 with one of his brothers.I think his mother and father stayed in Brekov maybe with other brothers and sisters.
Andrew first lived in Pennsylvania and traveled to Washington. He married along the way and started a raspberry farm here in Washington. He had 2 sons and 1 daughter, Andrew Francis NEMEC, Lawrence NEMEC and Eleanor.
Andrew Francis NEMEC was born May 25, 1926 in Puyallup, Washington. He is my grandpa and he is still living. He married my grandma Dolores SLOPAK in 1948 in Tacoma, Washington.Grandma's is Czech and her family is from Prague. They had 2 sons, Allen Francis NEMEC and Karl NEMEC.
Allen is my father and he is 100% Czech-Slovak.My mother is not, so I am only 50% Czech-Slovak.
I will follow-up with more information.
Milan, please tell me about your family.I am very interested in Czech-Slovak culture and life.I am also hoping we discover a family connection!
