Nemerovsky 1850s Russia
I saw your posting on Nemerovsky.
My great-great grandmother was Rifka Nemerovsky. She married Aaron (Aarele)Staradubsky and lived in Zlatapola, Kiev, Russia. Rifka Nemerovsky's mother was Fagi Haia, born in 1793, a midwife in Russia.
Might you have any additonal information?
I was also wondering if the US photographer Diane Arbus might be part of this family, as her maiden name is Nemerov.
Diane Nemerov was born in New York City on March 14, 1923. Her parents were wealthy storeowners. Her grandfather, Meyer Nemerov, had left Russia to avoid a arranged marriage, and had fled with his childhood sweetheart to America. His son, David Nemerov was a successful Jewish businessman in New York. He had married Gertrude Russek whose parents owned Russek's Fur Store and he had made it into Russek's of Fifth Avenue, a department store selling furs and women's' clothes.
Diane's paternal grandfather, Meyer Nemerov left his native Russia after defying his parents' wishes and marrying his sweetheart and not the girl his orthodox Jewish family had picked for him. (http://www.cosmicbaseball.com/darbhcpp.html)
