My wife's grandmother was a Nettleship. We can trace back to William (b. 13 February 1807 Nottinghamshire - d. 3 February 1888 Ohio) and Jemima (Wheatland) (b. 21 August 1805 Nottinghamshire - d. 21 October 1865 Ohio) Nettleship who with their daughter Elizabeth emigrated from Liverpool, England to the Port of New York on board the Ship Hamilton on 5 September 1832. William was 25 years old and listed as a painter. Jemima was 26 years old and Elizabeth was 1 year and 2 months old. The ship carried 106 passengers. They then settled in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio.
William's mother Elizabeth (b. about 1785 Nottinghamshire - d. 1860-1870 Ohio) (Maiden name unknown) and her 2nd husband William Best (b. about 1794 England - d. about 1849 Ohio) arrived in the Port of New York on 28 August 1833 on board the steam ship "Eagle". They were both shown as 39 years of age with a final destination of Ohio to join her son.
William's father is reported to be Edward Nettleship born about 1781 near Retford, Nottinghamshire and died between 1807 and 1815 in Nottinghamshire.
We are looking for additional information on the English Nettleship's.
