Hi...I am 4 years late to this discussion but would love to make the connection and learn more about the family! My maternal grandmother, Mary McNamara, nee Nevins, was born in the 1890s and grew up in Fishs Eddy. She had two brothers and family relatives that were in the bluestone business. She and her family (her mother's name was Margaret, I believe) moved to the Bronx. I believe that Margaret died in the late 20s or early 30s and that one of her sons was a policeman in the Bronx. I used to hear stories that she had relatives who lived in Brooklyn, who would probably be related to the Nevins from Fishs Eddy. (I've been to Fishs Eddy, and it's a REALLY small town.)
If you'd like to discuss any of this, please email me. While my grandmother, who later moved to Queens, died in 1978m my mother, her two sisters, and brother are all still alive and I can get more details about our branch of the Nevins.
Thanks!
Gail Nelson
