found the old Newsome burial ground on the river overlooking Oliver Dam in columbus ga /phenix city al in the foresdt and it is in bad shape...graves sunken in everywhetre facing east to west are dead giveaway to spots and only on marker remains after vandals stole the rest..luittle almost 3 years old J F Cain who died from burns in a fire lies on the old path up to the cemetery where many indians and confederate soldiers are buried along with families who were born, raised worked and died at Clapp's Factory Mill. John Mallory Land is President of the Clapp's Factory cemetery Preservation Society/League and has much information on this and the interred families.
