I received an e-mail from Bruce Jackson, the Lancashire County Archivist. He said there is still a building called Newsham Hall in the Township of Newsham, north of B5269 road between Broughton and Woodplumpton, "though it is probably not that which stood in the period of its occupancy by the Newsham family" and that according to Henry Fishwick, in "The History of the Parochial Chapelry of Goosnargh" (1871), "The building as it now stands shews some evidence of antiquity, although there is nothing from which one can fix with any degree of certainty its exact or even proximate age" (p. 195).Jackson said Fishwick also gives a history of the hall's owners and includes a pedigree of the Newsham family.

I reached mr. Jackson at [email protected] later found(at www.martex.co.uk/hta/mrl3300.htm)that the address of Ribblesdale Nursery is Newsham Hall Lane, Woodplumpton.Perhaps they would provide a photo. Also a map of the area can be found at www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?grid2map?X=345000&Y=425000
