Niblack Niblock Niblick Niblo Knublock Knubloch
I know I'm preaching to the choir and you ARE aware that the Niblock Forum contains your same family lines - since various members used different spellings. My Rhoda Niblick was the niece of William Niblack of Rowan Co., NC.
These families appear to have entered the country in New Jersey, since there are many Niblack Niblock records there. William, of course, has a tombstone that says he lived in PA a while, coming from Clackmannan, Scotland.
Check the Niblack/Niblock Rootsweb Message Boards or subscribe. Ellen Niblack Frew is a contributor and author of the book "The Niblack Family".She traces the route of your families from Rowan County, NC south to Florida after a family quarrel.
I WISH we could find old records in Clackmannanshire for Niblo, Knublock and Knubloch (also Kniblo, Knebulo and Knibloe per a Family Crest website)to lead us to our Niblack family's true origins.
I did find a marriage record in Ancestry.com for a William Knubloch and Margaret Fleck in Balgray in 1677, but nothing more.
A John Niblo was a merchant around that time who took in apprentices.
WHO ARE WE?Some people think we were Palatinate Germans who fled to Scotland.
Any insights?
