My Grandmother was Amanda Nicoud 20 Nov 1887 - 06 Dec. 1985 Died in Milwaukee, Buried at Holy Cross Cemetery.

I think Louis Nicoud (The Chef) was either a Uncle or Great Uncle. I have no other information on the Nicoud line and would appreciate any information on Amanda's parents.

Schewe Sr., Janet
Schewe, Sr. Janet, BVM Milwaukee native and longtime educator Sister Janet Schewe, BVM, 91, died July 5, 2007, at Marian Hall, Dubuque, Iowa. Visitation will be July 12 from 9-11 AM in the Marian Hall Chapel with a prayer service at 11 AM. The funeral will be at 1:30 PM. Burial will be in the Mount Carmel cemetery. Sister Janet was an administrator at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School for 30 years, from 1971-2001. She served there as assistant principal, curriculum director and assistant administrator. She was also an educator in Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota. Sister Janet was born Oct. 3, 1915 in Milwaukee to Henry and Amanda Nicoud Schewe. She graduated from St. Rose Elementary School and Holy Angels Academy before entering the BVM congregation from St. Jude Parish, Wauwatosa, on Sept. 8, 1933. She professed first vows on March 19, 1936, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Schewe. She is survived by four sisters: Mary Sell, Milwaukee; Helen Chamberlain, Columbia, S.C.; Margaret Williams, Brown Deer; and Nancy Davidson, Delafield; and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 73 years. Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Charity, BVM Retirement Fund, 1100 Carmel Dr., Dubuque, IA 52003.

I attended the funeral in Dubuque and that is where I learned of Louis Nicoud (the Chef) from Mary Sell (nee Schewe) the daughter of Amanda Schewe (nee Nicoud)
