BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services for Enoch Talton Nix, 81, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2001 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Damon Vaughn, pastor of Airline Baptist Church and Rev. Harold Shelton, associate pastor of Airline Baptist Church. Interment will be in Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery.
Funeral home visitation will be Saturday, December 15, 2001 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Nix died Thursday, December 13, 2001 in Bossier City. He was a native of Jamestown, LA and had resided in Bossier City for 55 years.
Mr. Nix graduated from Castor High School and received a B.S. degree in Agriculture from Louisiana State University. Upon graduation, he was accepted to the U.S. Naval Flight School and received his commission in the U.S. Marine Air Corp in 1942. He flew the F4U Corsair in the South Pacific and at the end of the war was assigned to patrol the China-Russia border.
After returning from the service, he came to Bossier Parish in 1946 and worked as an associate county agent before joining Bossier Bank and Trust Co. in 1950. He devoted his entire life to the banking business including President of Bossier Bank and Trust Co, Vice-President of United Mercantile Bank, and Chairman of the Board of Gibsland Bank and Trust Co. in Gibsland, LA.
He served on the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and the State Board of Colleges and Trustee for 30 years.
He was also a member of the Shreveport Club, University Club, Palmetto Country Club, Shreveport Committee of One-Hundred, Kiwanis Club, Bossier Housing Authority Board and numerous other organizations.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie White Nix; parents, Henry and Maude Nix and sister, Sybil Nix.
Survivors include sister, Laura N. Bell of Castor; sister-in-law, Mary H. Horneman and husband, Bob of Bossier City; nephew, Robert William Horneman of Bossier City and nieces, Amy Horneman of Houston, TX and Cynthia B. Cater of Bossier City.
Pallbearers will be Robert William Horneman, Bryan Cater, Christopher Talton Cater, Jimmy Johnson, Thomas Martin and James Graham.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the care and concern given by the Bossier Police Dept. and Dr. Alan J. Borne.
