Nick is my third cousin, so I have a lot of his family's genealogy information. His parents were Franklin "Frank" A. and Helen (King) Nolte. His grandparents were Arthur E. and Helen May (Menzie) Nolte. His gr-grandparents were Ludwig Hermann (He went by Herman) and Augusta Ann (Voges) Nolte. Gr-gr-grandparents were Ernst Wilhelm "William" and Engel Sophia (Fischer) Nolte. 3rd-gr-grandparents were Heinrich Christian and Engel Maria Justina (Harbord) Nolte.
The German newspaper "Braunschweigischen Anzeigen" of July 12, 1862, (number 168) reports the immigration of Ernst Wilhelm Nolte, his wife Engel Sophe (Fischer), one daughter and four sons, to America.
The oldest son (Ernst Christian August Nolte) remained in Stroit, Germany. His descendants still live in the area.
The second oldest son (Henry Karl Wilhelm Nolte) had emigrated to America some years before, to Wisconsin. He married Caroline Korfmacher in Wisconsin in 1860.
The oldest daughter (Johanna Justina Fredrica Nolte) was given a choice: accompany the family or marry and remain in Germany. Being already engaged, she moved up her wedding date. She married another Nolte (Wilhelm Nolte) of Ammensen, a village 4 km up the road. Her descendants now live in Delligsen and Hannover.
Ernst Wilhelm Nolte, b. 14 Oct 1808, d. 18 Feb 1899

* One source has her birth date as 13 Mar 1813.
