Nommensen's from Foehr
I'm looking for information on my great great grandfather, Richard Nommensen and his family. He came over from Wyk Auf Foehr with his family and he settled in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Here's what I know about his family so far:
Nommensens:Bernhard, Richard B., Dora, Anna, Gretchen, Bendix Peter, and Reinhard Border came with their mother, Margaretha (Brodersen) Nommensen to the States after their father, Broder Nommensen, Jr., died. They came over
about the time that the Germans took over Fohr from the Danish.(While in Wyk they attended St. Nicolai churc.)Upon coming over they originally settled in Wisconsin. We don't know much else about Dora, Anna, Gretchen, or Bernhard.Richard B. settled in the Sheboygan, WI area.
Bendix was a Lutheran minister who was at one time in Fountain City and some other Wisconsin towns. He eventually went to Milwaukee which is where he died.Reinhard is Bendix's twin brother. He also had lived in Fountain City, WI but ending up making a life for himself and his family in Raymond, South Dakota.I'd be most interested to find out information about Richard. He married a woman who my family thinks was named Dora (or Dorothea...something similar). She died in 1886 after they had 5 kids together.Richard later re-married (don't
know who don't know when). That marriage is rumored to have ended in divorce.Richard was born 05-30-1843 and died 02-21-1914.Children of that marriage were Adolf
J., Richard A., Frederick C., Anne M. and Leona Mathilda.
