Hi Cousins, I just learned of my NOQUET ancestry earlier today and am very eager to share information with all of you!
Here is what I know so far.
According to the IGI, my 4g-grandfather Absalom NOQUET b. 1772 was the son of Abraham and Anne POULAIN.He married Rosanna DEAN in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England in 1803.Absalom died in Bloxham in 1849.
Their daughter Rose (aka Rosanna and Rosehannah) was born about 1816 in Bloxham, Oxon.I'm certain there were other siblings but haven't got them worked out yet.Rose had an illegitimate daughter, Mary Ann b. 1838 in Bloxham.Rose married Francis NEAL of Tingewick, Buckinghamshire, England in 1844 and they moved back to Tingewick.Rose died inTingewick in 1864. To my knowledge she had no other children.
There my 2g-grandmother Mary Ann NOQUETT aka NEAL married Thomas CLIFFORD of Finmere, Oxfordshire in 1869, using the surname Noquett on her marriage certificate. My g-grandmother Rose CLIFFORD was born in 1870, and her brother Thomas William (aka Will) CLIFFORD in 1872.
In 1877 Thomas, Mary Ann, Rose and William emigrated to the U.S., taking up residence in Chicago.Rose married my g-grandfather Asa WALWORTH in 1900, producing my grandfather Robert Walworth and four other children.Since Rose's brother Will never had children, the progeny of these five children - myself and numerous cousins, who now live all over the United States, are the only remaining descendants of Rosanna b. 1816 (any children of her siblings not included.)
From the other messages posted on this board, I have gleaned that Abraham and Anne (Poulain) NOQUET were both born in France and immigrated to England. Is that correct?Where in France were they born?
I look forward to corresponding with and sharing information with all of you! Please feel free to contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
