LEONARD GENE SMITH
Ratliff City: Services for LEONARD GENE SMITH, 53, were held December 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ratliff City with Brother MIKE COX officiating. Interment was at Ratliff City Cemetery.
Born December 24, 1953 in Wilson to LEONARD VIRGIL SMITH and GENEVA NORDMAN SMITH, he died December 18, 2007 in Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Smith, a son Michael Eugene Smith, and a sister ANN BOHN.
Although born in Wilson, Gene was raised in Perryton, Texas and moved back to Ratliff City in 1991. Gene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ratliff City. He was a roughneck for many years and liked to work on cars and the farm. He was a jack of all trades. Gene enjoyed hunting with his best friend, RANDY GALLOP.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Geneva Nordman Smith of Ratliff City; two sons, RONNIE AKRIDGE and TIMMY AKRDIGE of Beaver; two daughters, CASIE AKRIDGE of Beaver and NICHOLE SMITH of Perryton; three brothers, DWIGHT CROXTON of Decatur, Texas, RAY SMITH of Ratliff City, and JOE SMITH of Ratliff City; one sister, KAY WALKER and husband CHARLES of Ringling; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were TERRY LAQUEY, RANDY GALLOP, RANDY MOSS, TOMMY DOWNEY, RAY SMITH and TIM AKRIDGE.
Memorials may be sent to Cross Timbers Hospice. Roberts Funeral Home directed the funeral.
