GENEVA NORDMAN SMITH
Ratliff City: Funeral services for GENEVANORDMAN SMITH, 77, of Ratliff City, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the Ratliff City Baptist Church with Bro. MIKE COX officiating. Burial followed in the Ratliff City Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born April 24, 1930 to CHRISTIAN FREDERICK “FRED” and FANNIE AUDS NORDMAN and passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Healdton Nursing Home. Geneva grew up in the Graham and Healdton area and at a young age, she went work for her father in the fields. Her first marriage was to Mr. Croxton. Then she married LEONARD V. SMITH on June 20, 1953 in Gainesville, Cooke Co., Texas. They left the area in 1958 and moved to Perryton, Texas, then returned to Ratliff City in 1990.
She liked to crochet and collect dolls; she liked the company of her dog, Little Guy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Ratliff City. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard V. Smith, a son GENE SMITH, a daughter MARTY ANN BOHN, a grandson MICHAEL GENE SMITH; three brothers, Fred, Leo E. and Felix, two sisters, CHRISTINE, and Geneva’s twin sister, REBECCA who drowned and was buried in Colbert, Bryan County.
She is survived by three sons, DWIGHT CROXTON and wife CINDI of Decatur, Texas; RAY SMITH and MONTY JOE SMITH of Ratliff City; one daughter KAY WALKER and her husband CHARLES of Ringling; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be TERRY LAQUEY, TIM AKDRIGE, RANDY GALLOP, MARK PULIS, SHAWN ROFF and RAY SMITH. Honorary bearers will be MONTY JOE SMITH, JOHNNY FULLER and RANDY AKDRIGE.
Note: Geneva was the granddaughter of GEORGE SYRENIUS NORDMAN and REBECCA JANE WADKINS/WATKINS NORDMAN.
