Re: Barbara Ann Norford
I am sorry that evidently not many Norfords are
responding to the Norford family forum.I will
therefore introduce my line.
Sarah Elliott Norford, a widow moved from Maryland
to join her father John Elliott in Albemarle County.
She brought a son named Isaac with her in the late
1790's.Isaac married Elizabeth Madison, thedaughter
of a presumed Scottish soldier. They had a number of
children, my line is carried through William T. Norford,
who was with General Lee and surrendered at Appomattox.
James Madison Norford, the son of William T Norford was
with his father at Petersburg. A younger son, Joseph
Norford was my Great grandfather.William T. Norford
married a Gilbert, and Joseph married a Taylor, Joseph's
oldest daughter married James Mason Smith, Constable,
Deputy, and High Sheriff for about 50 years in Albemarle.
A book written by Lindsey Norford, a cousin of my grand-
mothers "The Norford Family", also indicates that we are
kin the the Leiters.
