Notley, Nolton, and Bronson Norris
A cousin and I are trying to figure out some mysteries in our Norris lines.I'm a descendant of Thomas Norris and wife Ann Hynson Norris through their son Thomas. My cousin's family is descended from a Bronson Norris. They have Revolutionary War info on him and, of course, know how they're descended from him. Her grandmother had notes on a John Norris that I have traced to Thomas Norris and Ann Hynson Norris' son Robert. My "guess" is that Bronson is from Robert's line, but we're just totally at a brick wall trying to piece it all together. Some clues we have are that Bronson's father was known in their family as Nolton Norris b.1808 who was married to Nancy Griffith. My direct line is descended from Joseph Notley Norris, so the Nolton and Notley similarity caught my attention, especially since her family called him Noltie. I found that Notley Norris born 1792 married Matilda Griffith. However, her Nolton "Noltie" also referred to as Nolly elsewhere was born in 1808 and married to Nancy Griffith. But, Nolton and Notley both married Griffiths. So we are pretty sure we're in the right Norris family with this, but we can't nail it all down. ANYTHING anyone might know to help us sort this out would be most greatly appreciated. Thanks!
