Re: nothomb, fromthe 1850/s came across to NY
Hi, Sherri! Nothomb is a small village in Belgium, near Arlon, a few km from the border with Luxembourg. There were quite a few people bearing that surname in the area around 1850. Two of my husband's great granduncles left Hachy, where my husband was born : Nicolas Nothomb and his wife Marie Barbara Tock around 1845 and Pierre and wife Catherine Lieffrig joined him in 1854/55. In 1862 and 66, they were in Sheldon, Wyoming Co, NY. We haven't heard from them since. So, if you descend from them, i would be glad to get some news!
A Nothomb family has indeed been on the foreground in politics and literature since the XIXth century but no emigrant is related to them!
Looking forward to reading you!
