The Nunez', as you probably know, landed in Savannah in July 1733. They were among a group of 34 Portuguese conversos arriving in Savannah, along with two German families (7 people), via London.
Upon arriving in Savannah, they formed Congregation Mickve Israel (CMI), the third oldest Jewish Congregation in the US.
We, at CMI, are planning a 275th Anniversary celebration on the weekend of July 11, 2008. Included in this event will be a special reception for the descendants of these first settlers.
I am in the midst of gathering a mailing list of the descendants from these families, landing in Savannah in 1733. Does anybody have any information pertaining to these families? And, if you are a family member, do you want to be kept informed about this event?
