Re: Nunlist,Switzerland to OH
Hello this ist Frank Nünlist from Switzerland. Sorry for mistakes in my english spelling but I am usually german speaking....
I did quite a bit of family research in the last few years. Originaly the name existed in three small villages in Switzerland (before 1800)which are all in the canton(state) of Solothurn.
I found two emigratons to the US:
Christian from Niedererlinsbach which bought Land in IL in 1842.
Edward with his wife Elisabeth Kamber and 5 Children form Hägendorf.
I am related to Edward from Hägendorf. He died in 1908 in Louisville KY. Unfortunately there were no records about his children.
The name of his children born in Switzerland were:
- Gottfried born 1847
- Carolina-Rosina born 1849
- Amalia born 1850
- Eduard born 1851
- Otto born 1852
According to his last letter to his sister in 1907 he had 7 more Children in the US of which two died right after birth.
All contacts I had to the US so far metionned that they were related to Christian from Niedererlinsbach later in Illinois.
Can you help?
Take in consideration that the name can be (was) spelled in different ways:
- Nünlist (two dots on the "u"
I hope to here from you soon.
