Nye Family in Topeka, KS area 1910-1920
My Aunt Mildred Ney (or Lena Mildred or ??)was born in the Topeka area in Aug of 1910. She remembered a sister named Charlotte (??) who was a couple of years younger than her. She also remembered her father as always being around and then he was suddenly gone. They were taken from their mother (alcoholism) at a fair in Kansas and placed in the Topeka Children's Home in May of 1918. Mildred attended first grade in 1917-1918 at the Van Duren School in Topeka. Charlotte was adopted out first. Mildred (Lena) was adopted my Mary E Gregory of Morris County, KS in Nov of 1919. In 1925, she is living with a Viola Miller in Concordia, Cloud County, KS. In 1930, she is in Emporia. Looking for their birth parents. Cannot find any info in the 1915 KS census, which should have something, unless names are incorrect. Thank you.
