"William Oats, indian Trader, purchased a white baby from the indians. They said the baby was taken on the Kentucky Road and thought that the mother, possibly by the name of Stand/Standley, was living. Oats, living on the little PeeDee River near Groom's ferry, has baptized the baby and named her Nelly Oats. Contact John M'Nabb for more information."
