Mary "Polly" O'Banion, does anyone have proof of the date this woman was born? Said to be about 1818. She married John (Jack) William Cloyd in the early 1800's, no date estimated to be about 1835 based on her birthdate. No problem with that. I would like to prove her birthdate AND that she had a child with Jack named Perlina Jane, born April 8, 1830 (1828?) which would make Mary giving birth at 10-12 years of age. She is said to have been born near or at CLoyd's Landing (Cumberland co)KY. Mary and William O'Banion apparently are buried at the Salt Lick Bend cemetery near Burkesville or Marrowbone KY. I haven't seen proof that for myself. Further, I never really find Perlina listed with the family. I think she not the biological child of this woman but the couple raised her. Possibly the child of a former spouse of Jack's, a relative's child, by adoption or a Indian that took the Anglo surname while in contact with this family. She married William Riley Stalcup andd they moved in 1859 to the Paoli (now Garvin Co)OK, where he is listed in the census as "by permission", partially the reason I question her being an Indian. One had to obtain permission to live in Indian Territory at the time unless you were Indian and had been granted your own land. One of the census records I obtained lists Wm Riley as there "by Permission". Usually it would have said Intermarrying white, if he married an Indian, but could have been stated differently. She and Wm Riley both died there, their bodies transported for burial at Whitesboro TX where many Stalcups are buried. There are still descendants of the Stalcups in OK. I have proof that she knew the William O'Banion (Mary's father) but no that he was her blood relative. I have some information I will be happy to share on the family of more recent years, but until I prove this link, not sure if the former is relevant to me or not.
