Verlyn: Thank you very much for these obituaries and for adding a great deal of value by checking census records. I have found the census records for the mid west to be much more accurate that the same records in the east coast cities where the spoken word had so many languages were in play it was often hard for a census taker to understand. In the mid west the German Oberst, and its Swiss counterpart Obrist, are pronounced exactly the same. I have been trying to go back in time to earlier census records and invariably I forget to remember to check the "Obrists" as well as the "Obersts". Swiss crop failure and the French occupation brought many Swiss to America around 1810 to 1820. They usually headed to the mid west. Thank you again and please keep up the good work.
