I am trying to find information about a relative who travelled to Australia in the 19th Century. She was Mary Ann O'Callaghan who travelled to Australia on the "Saldanah". I know nothing about her journey on the ship and would love to locate a Report from the Captain, surgeon or someone else? She was 19 years of age (was born about 1833/34/35 in Mallow, County Cork) and was an Unassisted immigrant. She departed 17 March 1854 from the Port of Liverpool, England on the "Saldanah"; Master was John Findlay. Why would she have gone to the Port of Liverpool and how would she have gone? Arrived 15 June 1854, Melbourne, Australia.
Her parents Jeremiah O'Callaghan & Mary O'Callaghan nee Nolan / Nawlan may have married 19 February 1828 in Ballyclough, RC parish [Union of Mallow] County Cork.I can find no record of her parents still being alive when she left Ireland I can not find any record of anyone else travelling with her
I know nothing about where she went or what happened to her until she married Robert Stole in Beechworth, Victoria, Australia on the 1st of February 1858. There is no mention if her parents were still alive on her Marriage Certificate. The Witnesses were William Crisfield & Ellen M Kennedy
