My grandfather Frederick R. SURRY married Eliza Alice OCKENDEN in Sept 1889 at St. Leonards-by-the-Sea.She was the daughter of Henry Ockenden, a lodging house keeper.Alice was living on St. John’s Rd., St. Leonard’s-on-the-Sea at the time of the marriage.One ofthe witnesses to wedding was Kate Ockenden, her sister.Frederick was a teacher in Bexhill.He taught there until the family removed to London about 1892.Sons Norman (1893) and Douglas (1895) were born in London.Somewhere between 1900 and 1907 Eliza and Frederick separated.Frederick and the two sons emigrated to Western Canada.Norman returned to London as part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force for WW 1.He married in Croydon in 1917, and was killed in action in France on 12 October 1918.Douglas died in Alberta in 1915.

I have found that Eliza or Alice (Ockenden) Surry died in Chiswick in 1922 (sister Kate Ockenden was the informant).
Any assistance with this highly mobile family would be greatly appreciated.
