Joan, I have just read your posting on Family Treemaker. What excites me is that you have listed as one of William & Rebeka's children:Zilpha Holley Odom.
I just found out yesterday that my gggmother's maiden name was Odam. Her name - by family and census data was Zilphia H. (Hollis) Odam. Her birthdate was about 1825-26.This seems too much of a coincidence as I believe her mother was Rebecca Odam - listed 2 doors down from her in the 1850 census in Butler County, AL.If this is the same Rebecca Odam as your Rebeka - then she had 3 more children also. The census said Rebecca age 56 - was from N. Carolina. She was a widow by this time. The three youngest children living with her was (a male that I can't make out what the name is; Susan age 19 and John age 16.) My Zilpha married David Solman Price. He was from GA originally and the 1850 census shows Zilpha was born in Alabama.
I believe Susan Odam married George W. Price my David's brother. - In the early 1860's they traveled to Texas.
The Butler County Census 1860 has Rebecca Odam again listed with a Miley Burket living with her.Butler County records show a marriage in September 6, 1860 of a Miley Burkett and John H. Odum.(This would be the John listed as her son in 1850 census.) Hope to hear from you soon regarding this.I have been stuck on Zilpha for several years.
