I am descended from William and wife (Charity Brown?) through their daughter Angelina b 1794 m 1st George Whitfield Daboll, m 2nd Dr. Daniel Haynes.
My first land record for William is a 6 Feb 1798 lease from Stephen Van Rensselaer of 250 acres in Stephentown.98 3/4 acres of this went to sons Noah and Reeve 20 May 1815, and in 1826 Noah bought out Reeve and wife Polly.
The Stephentown Historical Society has info on the family supposedly "translated" from a very blurred carbon copy by a J. E. O'Dell - time frame unknown.Has anyone done any research on this William (b 1755 or before, d 31 Jan 1822)) or Charity Brown or any of his known children born between 1780 and 1798:Robert/Eunice Tifft, William (d 1812 age 25), Ruth/Benjamin Hoxsie, Noah B (also listed as Charles Noah)/Shirley Maretta Gale, John/Martha A, Angelina/George Whitfield Daboll; Sophia/John Babcock Jr, Reeve/Diantha Ann Parker (Polly?)???
FamilySearch.org has an Ancestral File for Charles Noah from 2 submitters, aemayfield2698096 and cpmock2768440, which has notes referencing a family Bible once in the possession of a Norman G. Odell (d 17 Jan 1966 Erieville NY).It's a stretch to think it would go back to William, but info from it might help!
William does not seem to fit with all the other Odle/Odells who settled in Stephentown or into any of the DNA studies at which I have looked.Would like to hear from anyone who has any missing pieces of this puzzle!
