Seeking information on the following Aadland family, believed to be from Skudeneshavn, Karmoy Island, Norway. They shipped out of Stavanger, Norway, and settled in Roberts Co, South Dakota in 1893.
Other surnames of interest:Erickson, Anders, Jacobson, Liknes (Likness), Hauck and Mikhelson, particularly any of these families found in close proximity to one another or the Aadlands in Norway.Several of these families arrived from Norway between 1882 and 1893, settling in Roberts and Day Counties, SD and surrounding areas. Our Aadland family arrived as a group in 1893, with some family members later moving on to Canada and Montana.
This is taken largely from handwritten family notes, so please pardon the question marks!Where possible, I have checked names and dates against other sources, but much is unconfirmed, so take it for what it's worth -- and please let me know if you spot any errors!
Tore (or Thore) Aadland, b. Aug. 1843, in Norway
married Karen (or Carina) Erickson about 1866, in Norway.Karen b. June or July, 1837, Norway.
They were living in Roberts Co, SD in the 1900 Census.According to the census, Tore and Karen had 7 children.Only the 4 listed here were alive in 1900, and these are the only ones for whom I have any data. The others apparently died before the family came to the U.S.The 4 surviving children arrived in SD with their parents in 1893.All were in their mid-teens to mid-twenties at that time. The youngest daughter, Ellen, is my g-grandmother.

Some of Karen Erickson's and possibly some of Tore Aadland's siblings also came to the U.S.
Tore's father is believed to be Ole Aadland.Siblings include:Andreas, Knut, Rasmus, Ingeborg.I have no information on Ole's wife (Tore's mother), nor on which, if any, of these siblings may have moved to the U.S.
Karen's siblings include: Lars, Andreas, Alena (or Olena). Our notes suggest that Lars and Andreas came to the U.S.At least one sister, perhaps Alena/Olena, remained in Norway.I know nothing of Karen's parents.
The notes I have also list an Eric Aadland with Karen Erickson's siblings. This Eric is shown as marrying a Myra Anders, but I'm not clear on his relationship to Karen or Tore.
There is a Nels Aadland and family living in the same area as our Aadlands in SD in 1900.This Nels also came from Norway, arriving in the U.S. in 1888.He was b. Oct 1870, so same age as Tore and Karen's older children. Was he related to our Aadlands?
Any and all leads welcome!I'm happy to share what I learn, but I haven't been able to come up with much of anything on this line, so hoping some cousin out there holds the key!
