I had noticed an earlier message of yours about the Wilburn connection, but I'm not sure that this is the exact Gabriel I'm looking for.I have only noticed the given name Gabriel branching out for the same ancestors in PA, so I have a feeling this Gabriel you are mentioning is kin to the lot of them on some level.
I have a Rev. John Scott who supposedly married Polly DeMoss. He was born in the late 1780s...Polly was born in 1796 or 97.Both born in KY.They moved to IL, then to the area of Cass Co, IN.John died in 1847 (IN/IL ?).Polly was living with one of her sons (Parmer Milton Scott) in 1850 Marshall Co, IL.I descend from Parmer's brother, Rev. Flemmon Scott (spelled in 1850 Marshall Co, IL as Clemon).
I do not know who John's parents were. One of his descendants did a Y-DNA test, and the results, per names given by other donors, shows John's group of males coming from PA.
The only reason I'm chasing "Gabriels" down is because most of my Scotts in the 1800 named sons Gabriel...quite often Gabriel Marion Scott. There had to be a significant Scott male in my line for so many to have been named after him at first.Undoubtedly, after a while, they were being named after the more recent Gabe's in the family.
So the Gabriel Scott you mention will fit into my Scotts somewhere, I just need to untangle them all....no easy task, I've learned.
By the way, the Scotts are my family on my father's side, but the Offills, Evermans, Clines, Roe, etc. are my family on my mother's side.
