Re: Sabert Oglesby (Alabama)
I can tell you that the correct spelling is Sabert not sabard. i have been researching Sabert for over 15 yrs an no one has documented truth about his early years, just guesses
Sabert Oglesby was born in Scotland about 1740.Notes in one of the family Bibles, the one belonging to his son, Sabert, gives us a few facts.
Sabert came to America with two brothers, John and James. They entered the country through the port of Charleston, S. C. I found the three Oglesby men in the 1800 Census. All were living in South Carolina. Two were in the Edgefield District and (Saybert) Sabert as living in Newberry.
From what I have read, the original family lived in the parish of Glamis, Forforshire, Scotland. There were several branches of the family and consequently several homes. The seats of the Airlie family are the Cortachy Castle on the river South Esk, and the Castle of Airlie. This is not to say that I have any proof that our Progenitor lived in either.
