Re: Where is Oglesby from?

Fascinated to stumble across Steve Weddle's information on the Oglesby name's origins. I've always been led to believe that we derived from the Ogilvie clan, having changed our name and fled south after being caught up in the MacDonald vs Campbell Scottish clan feuds of the C18th. My father was refused service in a Lincolnshire butchers' shop in the 1950s on the basis of his surname: the Scots know how to bear a grudge.
