I have seen this comment from you and others before, and now would like to say that I do share the feeling that there are many errors spread about on web pages. But, this was happening long before there were web pages, as evidenced by Hope Ogletree's book, which though (in my opinion) very helpful, is not without error (which human book is?).On the other hand, I don't think we should always poo-poo personal web pages.I think we should instead just take them for what they are, fallible materials written by fallible people. In the pursuit of genealogy, I really think we can encourage others to try their best to document and get it right as much as possible. I have my own pages, and I know for darn well certain that not everything in them is absolutely correct, but at least I admit that in the disclaimer on the pages.
It used to be said that freedom of the press was only for those who owned presses. Now, with the internet, many more are enjoying freedom of the press. With that, of course, comes the freedom to critique and correct. So, when someone tells me that something on my pages is incorrect or unsupported, I have responded by either changing it or removing it, whatever the situation calls for.
In closing, I just wanted to offer appreciated for those of you who have spent many years of research, which has helped those of us who have not been able to do that, due to lack of age or lack of resources.Your work is really appreciated.
Thanks
