Shawn, There has been SO much bickering about our name, that I decided not to post the findings I have. The Scot researcher whose posted on here, I believe his name is Andrew...He lives in Scotland, he I believe is not part of our group. That's just my opinion.
I think there are many Ogletree's and or Ochiltree's who are at a loss regarding the origin or the name. There is a strong possibility that the name, which went through many various families in Scotland and who ended up in Ireland...could have been like certain branches today.I don't mean any harm in this comment, believe me!However, there are always two to three sides to a family...rich, poor, middle class...its just a fact of life.I have it in my own family!!!One would never believe that one side was related to the other!!
My point being that the Ochiltree name is Ogletree. Thats been proved by ancient documents. I think that the Stewarts of Ochiltree / Uchiltree, were linked to us.I have so much proof that I won't share on here.It causes too much arguing and that is not my purpose.
I've worked in genealogy for over 35 years and have had my manuscripts published in newsletters, journals and historical books...I can truthfully say that there is a link with Stewart. Or perhaps even other surnames in Scotland who owned the title and not the land.
There are some on this board who won't like what I've just said, but I can tell you that CLAN CAMPBELL is at a loss for the questions I have asked of them. They know nothing. They're mistaken on many topics concerning the name.Such as MacUchiltree...son of Uchiltree. For the record, I was called and asked to work on the Ochiltree ancestry for Burkes Peerage and two others, BY that company. They had far more proof then even the historical and very interesting book, "House of Castlestuart"....
