I will be more than happy to help you with this if you are willing to accept a little controversy.Email me with a fax number or mailing address and I will send you family group sheets on the names you mention. Here are a few points:
1.William Ogletree as father of John.Unproven.In fact some have published books saying John was son of John but offer no substantiation.I would say at this point we do not know the father of John.
2.Johns 2nd wife was Piety Phillips.Johns first wife is unknown. Many say Ann Duncan, others say Mary ?.I believe in the Mary.
3.John had 9 children by first wife who evershe was.He had 2 by 2nd wife (Edmund H. and Patsey Brantley).Patsey Brantley was a daughter, not a wife.
You will get a lot of replies on this so you will have to sort it out.Everyone has an agenda. His children are pretty well spelled out in his will and a later document distributing the excess. This does not stop people from inventing children to establish eligibility in the DAR through his son William.John also had a brother (we think) that went to Georgia with him and a gaggle of nephews.Very hard to sort out.
Again, send me an address and I will be happy to send you family group sheets. Are you interested in a particular linage?Always say which one because chances are someone just read your post who is of that line.
