Lempi and Solomon Oja
My dads mothers parents.
1874 to 6.1946

I believe her parents emigrated over in 1895-1905 they moved to the Copper Country Mining District of Michigan outside of Lake Linden, and owned a farm of 80 acres.
In 1895 the Russian Governor General of Finland started to conscript Finns into the Russian army and launched an effort to Russify Finland, using Russian Language, etc.
Many many Finns who could speak Swedish, fled to Sweden and then sailed to America.
In 1905with the Russo-Japanese War, and the defeat of Russia, even more Finns fled conscription.
