David, Because you seem to have NJ OLDEN resources, I'm wondering if you can help me.
My great-great grandmother was Elizabeth OLDEN, b. circa 1827 in New Jersey.I've been so far unsuccessful in learning who her parents were. But here's what I DO know:
She married Martin VOORHEES in 1847 and they lived in Princeton, Mercer County, NJ.(They had 2 children: Cornelia and Martin)In the 1870 census, Elizabeth Olden Voorhees appears to be head of household. And her IMMEDIATE neighbors are Charles Hart Olden (son of Job Gardner Olden and grandson of Hart Olden and Temperence Smith) on one side of her and (ex) Governor Charles Smith Olden (son of Hart and Temperence Olden) on the other side of her.
This leads me to think Elizabeth was closely related to this Olden branch ... possibly another grandchild of Hart and Temperence Olden, possibly the daughter of Job Gardner Olden, possibly...?(I believe I've read that Gov. Olden had no children.)
Do you find my Elizabeth OLDEN in any of your files? Thanks and best regards, India van Voorhees Penney
