I am not researching this family, just entering information I hope will help someone.From the book "This Was The Life" Excerpts from the Judgment Records of Frederick County, Maryland, 1748-1765, is the following:
"November, 1755 - Peter Oler offers the following petition to the court: 'Your petitioner lives on the main road between Frederick Town and York Town.Your petitioner has seen a great deal of inconvenience in the road and bring the road some considerable distance nearer than it now is and a farr better road by your petitioner's house where he now lives and he is willing to make the road good and sufficient for waggons and others on his own cost and charges provided You will be pleased to allow the same to be the County road.'
The Justices appointed Thomas Norris and Thomas Harris to lay out the road prayed for and to report to the Next Court.
"Peter Oler petitions the Court for a license to keep tavern stating 'that your petitioner lives on the road fro Frederick Town to York in pensilvania near the pines on Piney Creek.'The Court grants him a license."
