Paula, A large group of Olveys left Wilkes Co.,NC around 1820 or so and moved to central Indiana. Also the name "Olvey" is basically only used by one family group that changed the spelling from "Alvey". Most are descendants of Wiseman,Fielding/Fielder and siblings. The chances are that your Olvey is related. My particular family group stayed mostly in NC,TN, and GA. But by coincidence I live in Indiana! I have researched a little on the Indiana Olveys and found an abundance of materials available. They were pioneers/settlers of mid-central Indiana and so there is quite a bit on the family. You might want to conduct searches on the genweb concentrating on the mid-central counties in Indiana of Hamilton Co. (Falls Creek Twp., Wayne Twp) Rush Co. (Center Twp) Hancock Co. (Vernon Twp,Green Twp,Vernon Twp) Clark Co.(Charles Twp)Rand Wayne Co.(Wayne Twp) Perry(Union Twp, Tobin Twp, Leopold Twp, Anderson Twp,Clark Twp) Vigo Co. (Sugar Creek Twp) Gibson Co.(Montgomery Twp) I found Olveys in all the above locations from early 1800s. Some books I located info in: "The Peoples Guide", Directory of Hamilton Co.,IN by Cline and McHuffie 1874 "Early Marriage Records" "Indiana Marriage Records" "1820-1901 Hamilton County Indiana Will Abstracts" by Bevelhimer Tract Book in Hancock County Courthouse at Greenfield,Indiana " Early Landowners of Hancock Co.,by Maurice Holmes "Hamilton County Tombstone Inscriptions" 100 Years 1833-1933 by Sue Baker "Prairie Farmers Directory of Hamilton County" (this was a great source had names occupation, what they owned etc) Also remember to check for variations on the spelling of the name: OLVY,ALVY,ALVEY being the ones most used (but there are others).
When you find your Indiana emigrant then you can continue your research back to Wilkes Co.,NC where there is also great documentation.
Hope your research goes well. If you are near Ft.Wayne, Indiana you are near the second best facility for genealogical research in the USA (my opinion) The library there is world reknown for its genealogical records, books, periodicals, covering all aspects of research.
